  • Schema.org Extension

Attendees:

  • Andy W.
  • Andy R.
  • Eddy Vanuytven
  • Martin
  • Antonio
  • Nicolas

Minutes:

Spreadsheet

  • Martin: Spreadsheets could be another way to get information from organizers that cannot produce JSON.
  • … It's just a way to produce the final format.
  • … [Showing an example of athletes, clubs, orgs]
  • … Just to clarify that people do not have to play with codes and weird things (countries, taxonomies will be expressed in combo-boxes).
  • Andy: We use this approach as well.
  • Martin: We can use your spreadsheets as well, of course. This is just a proof of concept.

Schema.org

  • Martin: I’m in touch with the schema.org groups to extend sports in the core vocabulary.
  • … I’ve created a draft to cover all our spec [http://athletics.sdo-athletics.appspot.com/] (early proposal)
  • … [Presented the work]
  • … Do you think this is relevant? should we move it forward and present the work?
  • Andy: We do not have resources to commit on it.
  • Martin: I’ll upload the work on the repository and we’ll see.

OpenTrack Lite Schema

  • [Andy showing data.opentrack.run]

Eddy Vanuytven

  • Eddy Introduction of Timetronics
  • Andy: Old Timetronics systems that work
  • … Complete meeting management solution
  • … Eddy is willing to generate data using our model
  • Eddy: We have already started.
  • … Not yet complete but we are working on it.
  • … We are exporting ~50% of our competition data in JSON format.
  • … We will be able to export the rest soon.
  • Andy: data.opentrack.run is the first place to look at.
  • … People can upload stuff here and others can download it.
  • Nicolas: We want to send information from various federations to Tilastopaja (the DB)
  • … This is the first state to compile information. People will be able to publish their data on their websites.
  • … As soon as Andy and Martin publish the proposal of the standard we will have the complete picture.
  • Andy: [Looking for Eddy’s town tracks]

AOB

  • Andy: Privacy. Nicolas is leading the work nicely.
  • Martin: Schema.org may represent events and this will be understood and represented by Google, Bing, Yandex, etc.
  • … [showing example]
  • Nicolas: Good to see this case,
  • … Categories should be represented.
  • … (international events)
  • Martin: We can extend the model and create a taxonomy for categories.
  • … It could be part of the scope of the group.
  • Andy: Type of competition (XC, indoors)
  • … Another level is the spatial coverage (international, national)
  • … tilastopaja exports this so we can do it quickly if someone tells us the format.
