Welcome! This wiki is home to research, design, and planning documentation efforts for the CFPB CFGOV-REFRESH project.
The goal of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is to support consumers as they analyze their financial situation, improve their credit history, and maximize the benefits of our full suite of digital tools and resources. Since its launch in FY2017, CFPB's “Your Money, Your Goals” paper and PDF-based toolkit has been downloaded more than 100,000 times. The subsequent release of companion paper book and pamphlet bundles (in FY17 and 18) that focus on these same issues has been requested more than 325,000 times.
CFPB has contracted Raft, LLC to re-envision their current tools as cost-effective, accessible, “mobile-first” digital tools. We have begun with the highest priority tools, those that encourage consumers to improve their monthly cashflow.
We are developing these tools using the best practices of Lean and Agile development, always focusing on the user and what their needs are.
We believe strongly in full collaboration with the client. We understand that there is an always an existing infrastructure, methods and guidelines that we need to work with.
- Shared Understandings: Plan initial meetings with all internal stakeholder organizations to make sure we develop a shared understanding of what structures and assets are in existence.
- Technology: While we begin with an idea of the technology stack that we will use, we finalize this in collaboration with the client.
- Initial Research: We determine what initial research needs to be done and what Agile tactics we will need to meet the requirements of CFPB.
- MVP: We will form a consensus what constitutes the MVP as well as what is considered an enhancement.
- Communication: We determine which internal organizations we need to meet with and at what intervals.
In order to complete the research, development, testing and deployment cycles, we use Sprint methodologies. Here are the actions that happens on an on-going basis, based on Sprint cycling:
- Creation and maintenance of a product backlog
- Primary development of the MVP, inclusive the following
- accessibility and 508 compliance attributes and features
- appropriate documentation
- On-going review by the Product Owner and stakeholders
- Release of completed features for technical review and end-to-end testing
- On-going review of accessibility and 508 compliance
- Hand-off of appropriate documentation
- Key sprint documents
- Possible future enhancement
