Favorites
Do you ever have files or directories that you constantly open/close but are tired of having to launch the open command and find the thing in the file system? If so, then the favorites command is there to make you happy. Files or directories that are favorited within TKE are always accessible from the File / Open Favorites menu list. Just select one in the list and file will be immediately opened or the directory will be immediately added to the sidebar.
There are a few ways that you can favorite a file:
- If the file is opened in the editor and is the current file, select the File / Favorite menu option.
- If the file is opened in the editor, right-click on the file’s tab and select the Favorited option (if you right-click on the tab again, you will notice that "Favorited" will be check marked.
- If the file’s directory is opened in the editor, right-click on the file in the sidebar and select Favorite.
To remove a favorited file from the Favorites list, perform the same action as you did for favoriting a file, but choose the Unfavorite option (or in the case of using the file tab, select the Favorited option again).
Once the directory is available for view from the sidebar, right-click on the directory within the sidebar and choose the Favorite option. To remove the directory from the Favorites list, right-click on the directory within the sidebar and choose the Unfavorite option.
To open a file or directory that has been previously marked as a favorite, simply select the File / Open Favorites menu and select the item from the associated menu list.
In addition to fast opening, favorited files/directories are also available for file searching via the Find / Find in Files menu item. Entering a portion of the pathname in the "In" field will display any matching favorited items as well as the normal list of items. This is super useful when you need to reference information from a file on a frequent basis.
