Live Show Cancellation and Show Archiving Policy MSP Waves_Draft

Purpose

This policy document defines the norms that govern Live-Show cancellations and show archive provision for any MSP Waves hosted Live-Show.

Necessity of a Live-Show Cancellation Policy

The MSP Waves team is proud to present a nearly consecutive programming schedule for a consistent listening experience to our audience. We are proud to host such able DJ talent and server our audience.

Many listeners have become accustomed to our consistent schedule. Expectations are set. Sometimes we fail to meet these expectations when Live-Shows are canceled. In these cases, we may hear from listeners who express disappointment when Live-Shows are canceled for any reason.

In order to strengthen the MSP/PAL community, the MSP Waves brand and to grow our reputation, MSP Waves and its DJs and Operations team members must display consistency. Repeated and consecutive show cancelations are having an adverse effect on the MSP/PAL community and the value of the MSP Waves brand.

We, therefore, have a responsibility to set norms to which we expect our DJs to adhere.

Notification Period for a Live-Show cancelations

When a Live-Show is canceled, a couple of things must happen:

  1. A previously recorded show must be the MSP Waves Server that contains our audio and video resources.
  2. The Operations team must replace the canceled live-stream with the recording.

This process requires time and additional resources.

Reasons

While DJs have a responsibility to deliver their weekly Live-Show, we understand that this is not always possible.

We are not listing acceptable reasons for a show cancellation because we expect every DJ to wanting to do their show and only to cancel when absolutely necessary.

Here are the simple policies which are in effect from the moment of its application.

  • Every Live-Show must on an ongoing basis make three recent recordings in mp4 format available to the MSP Waves Ops team via mega.nz. Mega.nz has a free service which allows for up to 50 GBs storage. Mega.nz is also the fastest way that the Operations team can add any recording to its archives.

Steps:

  • Create a show-archive folder on mega.nz and share this link on the Operations Server #recorded-rebroadcasts.
    • Please do not send dlive, youtube or any other hosting service links, as downloads are cumbersome and often deliver an inconsistent quality that is not necessarily suitable for re-broadcast.
  • Record your show via OBS or other means at the time of the broadcast.
    • If OBS is used, we suggest recording in mkv file format and remux the recording to mp4 once the recording is finalized.
    • The naming convention of your show recording file should be show-name_date(MM-dd-yyy).
  • Upload any new recording to the mega.nz link you have provided immediately after the show but prior to the beginning of your next scheduled live-show.

This will allow the Operations team to broadcast a recording at the best possible quality on short notice,

Cancellation Notification Period

As a general rule, MSP Waves requires notification as soon as it is clear that the DJ cannot host a show but at least 2 hours before scheduled show start.. The sooner, the better for all parties.

Retiring a Show

Where a DJ cancels a show 4? consecutive times, MSP Waves reserves the right to cancel that show permanently. We will, however, ask to discuss the reasons/motivation of any DJ when 3 consecutive shows are canceled. We would also offer to assist with alternatives to show cancellation where possible. However, it would be preferable for any DJ to seek alternatives proactively.

Alternatives to Show Cancellation

  • Someone else hosts the show stream for the DJ if the DJ could host remotely.
  • Provide a backup DJ who will deliver the Show for you on your behalf.

We thank all DJs for their quality work and look forward to working with each of you long-term.
