Policies

This section of the Portal englobes the two types of policies: placement and runtime policies. Also, it includes the generated actions by the runtime policies.

Placement policy

This subsection of the Portal displays a form to choose the desired placement policy among the ones offered by the Service Platform. In the case of choosing the policy "Prioritise" the user must include a list of datacenters ordered with the priority desired. At least one must be chosen in order to select and save this policy.

The policy displayed when this page is opened is the actual policy chosen. Once it is modified the user will be capable of saving the new one with button "Save". Take into account that the placement policy will not be authomatically applied when choosing an option from the dropdown menu.

Runtime policy

This subsection of the Portal displays the list of all the Runtime policies. The list orders on the top the ones selected by default for each network service and, every element of the list can be selected so that the user will enter a view where to check all their details.

The page also includes a search field and a reload button so that the user can refresh the list whenever desired. Besides, each element displayed includes:

  • a button that sets the policy as the default one for its network service
  • a button to erase the policy
  • a button to duplicate the policy. When clicked, the Portal will open an edition view to customize the policy before duplication

Besides, on the top of the page there is a create button that allows the creation of a new runtime policy with the parameters selected by the user. The creation includes three steps:

  • The first one includes the general information such as the name, vendor and version, a checkbox to set it as the default policy and its related network service. If the network service does not contain any monitoring parameter, the policy creation will fail since the user will not be able to create any monitoring rule.
  • The second step includes the creation of a monitoring rule including the metric, threshold and operator to be used.
  • The final step uses the declared monitoring rules to define the policy rules to be applied. It declares the actions to be performed over one or more monitoring rules together.

Generated actions

This subsection of the Portal displays the list of all the generated actions produced by a runtime policy. There is not a detailed page for this list since all the relative information is displayed in the table directly.

The page includes a search field and a reload button so that the user can refresh the list whenever desired.
