Below is an example of the kind of spectrogram plot made by Fast Track. Each formant is indicated using points of different colors to make errors easier to diagnose. Hollow points (in lighter colors ) indicate observed formant frequencies, filed points indicate formant frequencies predicted using the linear models. When only a single track is visible that means the model was able to predict formants with good accuracy. Below, our predicted formants almost perfectly coincide with our observed formants except for the right boundary of F4.

Comparison images compare all analyses of a single sound file in a single image. Analyses are ordered top to bottom, left to right in number and increasing cutoff frequency. The automatically-determined winner is indicated by a bold box. The user can use these comparison plots to select a better analysis, to understand why errors are occurring, or to get a feel for how the analysis would look under slightly different analysis conditions.
