Creating a New Project

To create a new project, select "New" from the main menu, then select "Create new".

Enter the project's title (mandatory), shelfmark (mandatory) and date (optional), then select "Next". You can then select "Start with an empty project" to finish, or select "pre-populate with quires" to add structural content to your project.

If you chose "pre-populate with quires", you can add groups of leaves to your project. Specify the number of quires and the leafs per quire, then select "Add". You can do this multiple times with different numbers of leafs, for example one quire of 10 followed by another of 8. Note that if you specify a conjoined quire with an odd number of leaves, you must also indicate which leaf is unconjoined.

Once you are done specifying the quires, select "Next". The following screen provides you additional options.

The first section gives you the option to automatically generate folio numbers or page numbers in your collation project. If you select one of them, you must provide a value to start the number generation from. For example, if you select folio number and provide value 2, the folio numbers will be: 2R, 2V, 3R, 3V, 4R, 4V, and so on. If you select page number and provide value 1, the page numbers will be: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and so on.

The second section "Select starting texture" allows you to choose the texture for the first recto. If "Hair" is chosen, the texture pattern throughout your collation will be: Hair, Flesh, Flesh, Hair, Hair, Flesh, Flesh, and so on. If "Flesh" is chosen, the texture pattern will be: Flesh, Hair, Hair, Flesh, Flesh, Hair, Hair, and so on.

Finally, select "Finish" to complete setting up your project.
