- We've created a governance subcommittee currently consisting of:
- Alex Mason
- Otto Wagner
- Rob Woodcock
- Sanjay Gowda
- Andrew Cherry
- Damien Ayers
- Trevor Dhu
- Andrew Hicks
We would like to invite our USGS and Colombian partners to consider joining and helping in this initial effort.
This committee will drive the process with a target date of 31 March, 2017 for having:
- a governance model in place and supported by the community
- names against the various roles in the governance model
- We'll use the Jupyter Project governance model as our starting point
- We'll try to make as few changes to this model as possible in order to try and keep everything consistent
- We've established an initial repository structure for the required governance artefacts
- Discuss copyright issues
- should consider having copyright reassigned to an entity (this will allow for the community to later change the open source licensing etc.)
- if you have IP that isn't open or you don't want to reassign the copyright then it shouldn't be put into this repository
- TerriaJS has a bot that allows for this to be done automatically
- Need to determine the voting process for Open Data Cube Enhancement Proposals
- jupyter doesn't have a defined voting mechanism for enhancement proposals
- Damien and Alex will bring back a recommendation to the group
-
Need to identify some training people so that non-technical folk (i.e. Jono and Trev) can easily contribute to the github community
-
Group discussed whether or not we should be including material here about ARD definitions
- came to the conclusion that this isn't the way to go
- need to ensure that the appropriate CEOS committee's drive this as it will be important to the success of our community
Welcome to the Open Data Cube
