Here are a few of the tools we use or have explored for our lessons:

Video recording

These tools allow you to record screencasts from your computer:

  • asciinema: record command-line terminal videos
  • Loom: record videos (screen-only or with camera/mic)
  • OBS Studio: free and open source software for video recording and live streaming

Video editing

These tools help with video editing:

Video transcription

These tools help with automatically generating transcripts from recordings, which can be provided to aide with accessibility:

  • Otter.ai: generate transcripts from videos
  • Descript: commonly used for podcasts, but has automated transcription
  • Trint: speech to text platform, automated transcription
