Days to keep feed entries: Number of days to keep active feed entries for, won't search farther back than this when fetching videos, and when videos age out they are removed from the feed
Mute errors: hides pop messages for various error states. personally I find it usable to remind me to turn cellular back on when wandering too far from wifi, but could annoy others
Hide Watched videos: When enabled videos marked watched show up only in the history feed and main feed only shows unwatched videos.
Background sync: Enables sic to check for channel updates when app front end is actually closed
- Wi-Fi only: disables background sync unless connected to Wi-Fi network
Comments: Enables comments. Currently youtube and disqus comments aren't working, only dissenter comments are functional. Since comments are cancer, the suggested setting is kittens, which shows pictures of kittens in place of the comments.
Search Engine: Due to the failings in the bitchute search enginge, you can set it to use google search as well when looking for channels and/or the internal bitchute search.
Import subscriptions: This will import the currently subscribed channels from bitchute into the sic's subscribed channels. The window the opens up is the Bitchute login window in a webview. The account and credentials are never touched by the app. The bitchute login page can be difficult to see, especially when the keyboard pops up. Also, you have to actually click the submit button for it to finish, so you'll probably have to hide the keyboard to find it. While initially importing the channels they will start showing up in the feed, but may be missing playback options and some data until the importing finishes and the channels/videos can be updated.
Video player: Chooses the default when a video is selected.
-
Webtorrent: was working in webview, then Bitchute started doing strange things with their magnet links and not putting magnet links on some videos. This will be the prefered mode once the magnet links stabilize.
-
VLC: vlc media player, good ad free open source video player. Able to play videos as background audio, lock the screen to prevent accidental video closing, boost volume for quiet videos. https://www.videolan.org/
-
exo: Androids video player option, works with background playback and fairly robust features available.
-
System: plays with the device's default video player or offers a choice of the registered options on the system if you haven't specified a default yet
-
Embedded: Plays the video in a webview. Should be the most reliable method of playback since it's the simplest, very feature light, doesn't keep track of position and can restart if the phone decides to redraw or resize.
-
Chrome: Like embedded but launches directly in chrome browser, better rotation protection and full screen playback than embedded, but lacks details available in embedded.
-
Properties: Opens up the properties page for the video, with buttons to playback in whatever methods are available. Same information that is available from long pressing on a video in the video list.
Import Subscriptions: This will import the currently subscribed channels from Youtube into the sic's subscribed channels. The window the opens up is the google login window in a webview. The account and credentials are never touched by the app. The Google login process is cleaner than bitchutes, and you can use the next or go button on the keyboard. While initially importing the channels they will start showing up in the feed, but may be missing playback options and some data until the importing finishes and the channels/videos can be updated. While importing the channels it makes an effort to find those that are also on bitchute and automatically link the bitchute information to the channel.
Video player: Chooses the default when a video is selected.
-
Youtube: opens the video in youtube's app
