Whether you use a heightmap or generate a new world you will be greeted with the map editor. The map editor includes many useful tools in customizing the map such as temperature, altitude, and rainfall.

Terrain tools

The first two options in the map editor menu are scale terrain and sea level offset.

Sea level offset

This tool allows you to change the altitude of sea level, going from +10,000m to -10,000m.

It can be particularly useful with heightmaps that when generated include a large portion of them underwater.

Scale Terrain Altitude

The scale terrain tool allows you to decrease the range of altitude between cells.

Sometimes doing -10,000 sea level isn't enough to uncover your whole heightmap, so by decreasing the difference between the lowest and the highest cells the sea level can either rise or lower depending on what you desire.

Average Tools

After the terrain tools, you will see the average temperature and the average rainfall.

Average Temperature

This tool allows you to mess with the average temperature found on your map. Combinations of this tool and the temperature tool could create different biomes.
