Description:

  • To begin our investigation of our SLAM packages, we want to observe the influence of our visual sensors in terms of navigation

Goals:

  • Ensure that move_base (Navigation Stack) subscribes to PointCloud topic
  • Qualitatively compare and contrast:
    • rtabmap navigation with PointClouds only
    • gmapping navigation with LIDAR only
    • rtab navigation with PointClouds & LIDAR

Acceptance Criteria:

  • Wiki describing observations and potential explanations for them
  • Decision on whether we need to reconsider our SLAM package/sensor configuration

Notes:

  • Having 2 people working on this issue simultaneously would make comparing and contrasting easier and faster
