What are you trying to do?

OpenPrecincts is a data and software resource to open the redistricting process to all citizens and ensure that the next decade’s district boundaries are fair for all voters. Our ultimate goal is to obtain high-quality precinct boundaries for the entire nation, the path to getting there can vary quite a bit state to state.

How do I get started?

• Sign up for an account on OpenPrecincts.org and get in touch there to get access for your state. We'll also invite you to our Slack if you'd like.

• Help us do the basic research on what the effort will take in your state. Look at State Template for more details.

What kinds of skills do you need?

We need people with all kinds of skills: basic research, people willing to contact county clerks for the data we need, people with GIS skills to help us clean & verify data, and people who are interested in contributing code to help us improve our tools.
