Here is a quick way to get up and running with Data Generator development. This page is written assuming no prior software installed.

Download and install the following tools:

Oracle Java 7 JDK - http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/jdk7-downloads-1880260.html
Intellij IDEA Community Edition - https://www.jetbrains.com/idea/download/
Apache Maven - http://maven.apache.org/download.cgi
Git - http://git-scm.com/downloads
