Translate frc-docs to Japanese

I am a member of the FRC team in Japan.
My main focus is programming, but I would like to translate frc-docs into Japanese for other Japanese teams.
I have applied for additional languages from Transifex.

So sorry about the late response, it would probably help if I subscribed to the discussions 😄

Our introduction of new languages into frc-docs really is only held back by a couple of things:

1. First and foremost, translators willing to pick up the work!
2. Real world accountability. Because frc-docs is the official face of technical documentation for the FIRST Robotics Competition, it means we have to have high standards for quality. Part of enabling crowd sourced translations is ensuring that there is a real world person responsible and/or reviewing any translations that go live. Typically this is a lead mentor of a team or a local FIRST org member. If you want to reach out about becoming that person, shoot me an email at daltzsmith (at) gmail (dot) com.
3. Lastly, team benefit. Typically if we are only effecting 1-2 teams with a translation, it could be argued it's not worth the effort. This is especially true with how much effort translating frc-docs is. We have over 200k words split across 80+ pages. That's a lot. I haven't looked at Japan's numbers, but if you feel it's worthwhile, shoot me an email.

I am a mentor for FRC 1477 but I have been assisting a Japanese team (FRC 8853) a bit since last season and wanted to extend my help in making the documentation more widely accessible to Japanese teams. I would be happy to own verifying the accuracy of the translations, though I think someone who speaks Japanese as a first language would be better suited to writing the text. Would an arrangement like that be agreeable? I can also likely assist in writing some of the less complicated translations where native-level fluency is not required.

I tried to join the project but it rejected my application due to a pending request which is how I ended up here. Basically, let me know how I can unblock this translation stream and I'll do what I can to help.
