Codename Pegasus OS

About the project

History

Pegasus is my third try to create a from scratch kernel. The first time I tried to write a kernel from scratch was in December 2009. The project was called GreekOS but it's life was short. GreekOS was aborted just a month after it commenced. In September 2010 I started developing Cinux, a Linux From Scratch distribution. After 8 months of development, Cinxu was released in March 2011 and I am now working on the second release. In June 2011, though, I started to dream again of developing my own kernel. I opened the OSDev wiki and I started putting the project named Codename Pegasus Operating System together.

Technical aspects

Pegasus is a kernel aiming to be mostly a hybrid. It's philosophy is based on the Unix kernel but it's not 100% a Monolithic kernel. It mixes the features of the Monolithic kernel, the Microkernel and the Exokernel. This type of kernel is defined as a Subhybrid kernel.
