Project Abstract

Please replace these instructions with a brief description of your project summarising key points (1-2 paragraphs).

If your application is a follow-up to a previous grant, please mention which one in the first line of the abstract and include a link to previous pull requests if applicable.

Grant level

  • Level 1: Up to $10,000, 2 approvals
  • Level 2: Up to $30,000, 3 approvals
  • Level 3: Unlimited, 5 approvals (for >$100k: Web3 Foundation Council approval)

Application Checklist

  • The application template has been copied and aptly renamed (project_name.md).
  • I have read the application guidelines.
  • Payment details have been provided (Polkadot AssetHub (USDC & DOT) address in the application and bank details via email, if applicable).
  • I understand that an agreed upon percentage of each milestone will be paid in vested DOT, to the Polkadot address listed in the application.
  • I am aware that, in order to receive a grant, I (and the entity I represent) have to successfully complete a KYC/KYB check.
  • The software delivered for this grant will be released under an open-source license specified in the application.
  • The initial PR contains only one commit (squash and force-push if needed).
  • The grant will only be announced once the first milestone has been accepted (see the announcement guidelines).
  • I prefer the discussion of this application to take place in a private discord channel. My username is: rxShri99 (change the homeserver if you use a different one)

hey @Shritesh99 , you requested a private discussion, is that right? I invited you to an element chat room, but seems like you didn't join. Let me know what's up.

Hi @PieWol, Apologies, I have mentioned Discord as prefered method of communication. I didn't get any invite there.

Thanks for the application. I'm already providing some quick general feedback here. It's mandatory to take at least 50% in vested DOTs (see https://github.com/w3f/Grants-Program?tab=readme-ov-file#level_slider-levels). The milestones are ideally structured the same way as in the template: https://github.com/w3f/Grants-Program/blob/master/applications/application-template.md#milestone-1-example--basic-functionality. See also the default deliverables.

@Shritesh99 please note that the grants guidelines have recently changed
. It would be helpful if you could provide information showing how your project fits what we’re looking for, and how it avoids the categories listed under What Doesn’t Fit Our Program.

User-Centric Innovation:

Intercaster Gateway is designed to solve real, demonstrated user needs by enabling seamless social-to-blockchain experiences for Farcaster’s 350,000+ daily active users and the Polkadot ecosystem. Our solution directly addresses the challenge of fragmented UX and social context loss, empowering end users to trigger meaningful on-chain actions from familiar social interfaces.

DOT Token Alignment:

The project creates direct and recurring demand for DOT tokens: all cross-chain message routing will use DOT for transaction fees. By embedding the economic logic deeply into the protocol, we help strengthen DOT’s role as the primary utility and governance asset for the ecosystem. Our SDK makes DOT-based operations easy for developers and users alike.

Sustainable Business Model:

Intercaster Gateway’s economic framework prioritizes sustainability: our transaction fee structure, treasury incentives, and paid API services ensure a clear path to financial independence within 12-24 months. The proposal lays out a detailed revenue distribution model for operational costs, community grants, and ecosystem maintenance. Our treasury mechanisms and protocol governance allow the system to adapt and optimize for long-term financial health, rather than relying on ongoing grants or external support.

Regulatory Awareness:

All the end users' onboarding and KYC is done by the Farcaster ecosystem. Sensitive user data is never stored or transferred; we are just storing on-chain transaction metadata and users' FIDs provided by the Farcaster ecosystem.

Exciting Verticals & Practical Targeting:

While not limited to any domain, Intercaster Gateway is immediately actionable for several high-impact verticals including:

  • Social-powered DeFi

  • Identity and reputation solutions

  • Web2-to-Web3 bridging by making existing social activity a trigger for on-chain events, allowing third-party dApps to create “Spotify-like” and collaborative knowledge-sharing experiences native to Polkadot.
