@mattmoyer and @davecheney is this code still being maintained? This PR is critical as many companies are standardizing on the The Kubernetes API server 3 API endpoints (healthz, livez and readyz) to indicate the current status. REF: https://kubernetes.io/docs/reference/using-api/health-checks/ This P would definitely make this more universal. |

I realise #20 exists however I want to try for a different approach. Feel free to close this in favour of #20, either or 😄
