Virtual Embodiment Lab - Unity Recreation

Cornell University, Communications Department (Mann Building)

Project Overview

This project aims to recreate the Virtual Embodiment Lab in a virtual environment using Unity. The goal is to develop an interactive, immersive digital twin of the physical lab, enabling researchers and participants to navigate and interact within the space virtually. This environment will serve multiple purposes, including remote collaboration, experiment simulations, and virtual walkthroughs.

Features

  • Accurate 3D Model of the Lab

    • Layout, furniture, and equipment modeled to scale
    • High-fidelity textures and lighting for realism
  • Interactive Elements

    • VR-compatible interactions
    • Real-time object manipulation for study simulations
  • Experiment Integration (Future Implementation)

    • Ability to run VR-based social and embodiment studies
    • Real-time data tracking for research

Tech Stack

  • Game Engine: Unity (URP or HDRP for enhanced visuals)
  • 3D Modeling: Blender, Unity ProBuilder
  • VR Support: OpenXR, Oculus SDK (if applicable)
  • Scripting: C#
