Thanks to thoughtbot: To copy/paste to the OS X clipboard,

brew install reattach-to-user-namespace

C-a r to reload the configuration in your current session. Then, with Vim-like keybindings enabled, C-a Escape, move the cursor then v to begin the selection and y to yank (copy) the highlighted text. Awesome.
