This release marks the final update to USGS Fortran codes before they become deprecated in favor of using nshmp-haz. This release contains numerous bug-fixes and modifications found via external review of the 2014 NSHM after publication and internal verification of nshmp-haz.

With the shift to semantic versioning of USGS NSHMs, this release would be equivalent to v4.0.2 of the 2014 NSHM for the conterminous U.S. The building code release, nshm2014r1, would be v4.0.0.

Release Notes:

  • Runtime error (#10)
  • Charleston RLME GMM weights for R>500km (#11)
  • P. Bird zones a-grid mappings (#12)
  • Charleston RLME fixed strike values (#13)
  • ERM-S2 RLME a-grid; formerly collocated with ERM-S1 (#14)
  • Added GMM count to ERM-S1_RLME_2014.770.in (#17)
  • Cheraw fault geometry (#18)
  • Added GMM uncertainty to Wasatch unclustered model (#20)
  • Magnitude of the northern New Madrid cluster model fault (#21)
  • Weights for Cascadia northern zone (fixed in prior release) (#23)
  • Geologic-geodetic fault model weight and geometry inconsistencies (#28)
  • West Valley Fault weights (#29)
  • Geologic-geodetic fault model trace inconsistencies (#30)
  • Low-probability fault weights and rates (#31)
  • Seattle fault weights and rates (#32)
  • Removed Sandy River from P. Bird geodetic fault model (#34)
  • Stonewall anticline weights (#40)
  • Updated hazgrid, hazFX, and hazSUBX (#44)
  • Atkinson table indexing (#45)

  • Cluster source cutoff with distance (marked as 'wontfix', #71)

Script updates and minor bug fixes

This release corrected script files that had not been pushed up to the repository with the original release. It also includes minor bug fixes notes by S. Harmsen and C. Cramer that affect periods other than PGA, 5-Hz, and 1-Hz. One input file was also modified (it was missing the line specifying the number GMPE's for PGA); this error has a negligible effect on hazard.

This release includes the code and input files used to generate hazard curves for the 2014 update to the NSHM. These data were used to generate design ground motions associated with the 2014 update.

2008 NSHM Release 3

This release includes the code and input files used to generate hazard curves for the 2008 update to the NSHM. These data are currently accessible via USGS web toools. This is an update to the "Release 2" codes (unversioned), which were used to generate design ground motions associated with the 2008 NSHM update.

With the shift to semantic versioning of USGS NSHMs, this release is equivalent to v3.2.0 of the 2008 NSHM for the conterminous U.S. The building code release, unversioned, would be v3.1.0.
