…protection

Add-on modules and IP protection through the Export level property are deprecated as of Studio Pro 11.18 and removed in Studio Pro 12.0. They remain fully supported for the entire support duration of Mendix 11.

New page:

  • refguide/modeling/app-explorer/modules/migrate-add-on-and-solution-modules.md (draft) covering the timeline, the split between the governance and commercial IP tracks, a capability mapping, the available and planned successors, the capabilities with no successor, and conversion steps. Studio Pro 11.21 is the minimum version whose components can be imported into a Mendix 12 app, which is the deadline for publishers who need one component version spanning both majors.

Notices added (additive only; no reference content removed or restructured, since the feature is supported for all of Mendix 11):

  • refguide: the four core module pages, solution-tab, import-and-export, export-app-package-dialog, security-overview, mx module and dump-mpr, and the Export level mentions on the entity, attribute, association, constant, enumeration, and microflow property pages
  • refguide10: the four core module pages, worded for Mendix 10 readers (deprecated as of Mendix 11, unchanged for Studio Pro 10 apps)
  • marketplace: sol-ip-protection, sol-adapt, sol-architecting, including that there is no technical successor for commercial IP protection and none planned for tamper-proof usage metering or entitlement enforcement

The new page is draft and carries a todo block listing what must be resolved before publication, including confirmation that 11.18, 11.21, and 12.0 are announceable, and Docs team sign-off on the section describing unreleased functionality.
