Experience

Zalando

Senior Software Engineer (Cloud Infrastructure) August 2021 - Present

Manage and extend the AWS infrastructure for 300+ accounts and 200+ Kubernetes clusters. The main focus is on improving cost efficiency, reliability and compliance, while reducing toil and improving user experience for developers

  • Lead the migration of entire AWS central infrastructure to AWS Cloudformation, including the development of a golang application to manage Cloudformation stacks for 300+ accounts and multiple regions (apply, plan, validation).
  • Designed and Implemented a golang service to support the CI/CD by managing AWS Cloudformation stacks for 2000+ engineers, including validation, plan and deployment.
  • Lead the migration of Cloud Infrastructure access (Users and CI/CD) to Okta, including the development and distribution of a golang CLI used daily by 2000+ engineers.
  • Coordinate Cyberweek preparations with the entire company by representing the Infrastructure Organization.
  • Designed and Implemented a golang solution to create, update and rotate application tokens for 1000+ applications.
  • Supported the migration of 100+ self-managed Kubernetes clusters to AWS EKS clusters (IPv6), including changes on the system to support the migration and support multiple clusters per account.

Zenjob

Senior Software Engineer (Platform) January 2019 - July 2021

Provided and improved a Developer Platform for 100+ Engineers to deploy, operate and monitor their applications.

  • Lead the migration of 50+ Microservices to new Kubernetes clusters (AWS EKS and Istio) with no downtime and with minimal engineer effort.
  • Deployed and maintained Jenkins CI/CD, including abstractions in Groovy to deploy all common use-cases.
  • Developed a Python CLI to simplify the daily tasks for 100+ Engineers interacting with the Platform.
  • Deployed and maintained Kubernetes Clusters (AWS EKS and Istio) and out-of-the-box Observability with Loki, Prometheus, Jaeger and Grafana.
  • Provided Terraform modules to abstract complexity with out-of-the-box best practices.

Veniam

Software Engineer (Infrastructure) April 2017 - December 2018

Operated and improved both the cloud and embedded infrastructure, as well as to provide a platform for 50+ engineers to deploy and monitor their applications.

  • Managed AWS accounts and AWS services.
  • Adopted Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and Puppet for configuration management.
  • Maintained Nagios, InfluxDB and Grafana for monitoring and alerting.
  • Provided and Operated the ELK stack for logging.

Systems Engineer (Embedded and Network) September 2014 - March 2017

Developed and Maintained the network related software for 500+ moving devices and backend infrastructure.

  • Developed software solutions (C language) for embedded devices and network controllers regarding mobility management, multihoming and delay-tolerant communication. This included developing or integrating network protocols, data caching, opportunistic communications, connection manager, DHCP, Wireguard, Multipath TCP.
  • Defined and configured the network that connects moving vehicles (embedded devices), network controllers and Linux servers (e.g. Linux distribution setup, OpenWRT, OpenVPN and routing).
