Become a sponsor to Wes Todd
Hey! I am Wes, and I work on JavaScript things. I have built OSS for ~10 (my first OSS project was a WordPress plugin!) and have become heavily involved in Node.js and it's ecosystem. I work on some projects you might recognize (and many I am sure you don't ๐):
- Express
- Node Package Maintenance WG
- Express OpenAPI
- PkgJS
- Node Web Server Frameworks Team
- Node Migrate
- Many you don't recognize...
Despite it being pretty difficult to quantify "impact" of these projects, here are some signals which might help:
- ~300 million npm package downloads a month
- Express TC Member since 2019
- Regular participant in community groups: Package Maintenance WG, OpenJS Foundation CPC, Web Server Frameworks Team and, npm RFC calls
What Support Means
I have been thinking a lot on what "supporting Wes" should mean. I have a nice job which pays my bills already (thanks Netflix), and while that pay is not for my OSS contributions, I am very privileged. So instead of putting money in my bank account, I want to use the ๐ธ๐ธ๐ธ to advance my OSS initiatives. This means a few things:
- Bounties on important contributions
- Paying for "extras" like swag, better project marketing, etc
- Experiments on supporting dependency projects
- Producing content to educate on OSS projects and initiatives
So far I have not gotten much in the way of supporters, so I have just been sitting on it, but if you (or more importantly your company, thanks @getsentry) would like to support more of this work I would love to scale the investment as best I can to help support the OSS ecosystem which supported me in my career.
