Yes that's understandable, maybe this can be left open until Chef 12 is more heavily adopted or release a new major version. |

It's June 17th, 2016 now. There have been at least 5 official releases of Chef 12. Just saying. |

Alternatively, is there a way for this change to still provide backward-compatibility? |

At this stage it is probably just best to move to later Chef version and leave Chef 11 on older versions of plugin |
