It was possible to compile the driver source code for Xorg version 1.20 and for Linux Kernel 4.19.0-9-686-pae. I followed in principle https://gist.github.com/fevangelou/46a2885233c45011ad5c8752f18eac73

On my Fujitsu/Siemens notebook, which has a dual boot installation, the driver fails to start the xserver with MX Linux 19 and succeeds with Debian 10.

The error message for the first is "Unable to map FB aperture, invalid argument" with respect to a function SiSMapMem().

I assume the reason lies somewhere in the initrd-file, has maybe something to to with the libpciaddress.

Logfiles:

MX Linux 19 booted with kernel and initrd from Debian 10: debianbooted/Xorg.0.log debianbooted/kern.log

MX Linux 19 booted with kernel and initrd from MX Linux 19: Xorg.0.log kern.log

Best Regards Markus
