Setup Options

the setup screen will show the first time you run sol, or any time you select file - edit options after that. do note that changing some settings will require you to restart sol.

by default, sol creates a directory for itself in your home directory, you can change where it stores its savefiles and screenshots in the default folders section

the sol parameters section is mostly self-explanatory, default sensitivity is a multiplication constant for midi seek control should you choose to use a controller. ignored directories are directories you don't want shown in the file-tree within the browse clip subsection of the main interface. for example, my clip organization structure has clips i've already converted to dxv within a dxv subdirectory so a clip example_clip.mov within a category folder would actually be at /category/dxv/example_clip.mov, but it shows up in the gui as /category/example_clip.mov

on the network config page, you can change the osc port that sol receives messages on, set this to whatever port Resolume has as its Outgoing Port (default: 7001). if you want to use a multitouch client, enable it and set the ip address under receiving ip

on the video player page, you can choose your video players. if your vj software is Resolume, the composition directory is where Resolume saves compositions by default, if you're not using Arena version 5 you'll want to change this. supported filetypes are the file extensions you want to be included when adding folders in the library organization view.

external player refers to an external video player program used in the import wizard. memepv is still unreleased, for an external player you'll want to supply the command that should preface a video clip filename. for example, since i have mpv in my path, i can open any video file with the command mpv /path/to/any_video_file

ffmpeg options if you downloaded ffmpeg and don't want to include it in your path, set the ffmpeg directory to wherever the binaries are. the # of thumbnails to generate option refers to how many frames you want for the hover preview. thumbnail width determines the size of thumbnail to generate.

on the gui config page, you can choose a theme for sol, and toggle sol's default always on top behavior (in full view only). the thumbnail options affect how the thumbnails are displayed, the hover refresh interval determines the time between frames when hovering over a clip in milliseconds.
