Aldone is a non-conventional geometric, low-contrast, sans-serif typeface inspired by the work of Aldo Novarese, designed by Pietro Gregorini as final project for Type Design course at CPF Bauer in Milan, with the creative direction of Marta Bernstein, Erasmo Ciufo and Beatrice D'Agostino.
The typeface is developed with two different extremes which interpolates in middle weights. The lighter weight is rounded and a bit narrow, taking the shapes of Recta typeface as inspiration. The bolder extreme is more squared following the footsteps of Eurostile, featuring big rounded corners and inktraps.
Aldone is provided in five different weights, from Light to Bold.
Aldone is named after Aldo Novarese, one of the most prolific and well known Italian type designer who worked between '30s and '80s at Nebiolo foundry in Turin.
Currently the font family is at early stage with the uppercase, lowercase and numbers. If you want to develop the typeface further, you can find the original masters under sources
folder, both in Glyphs and UFO files.
You can download the whole project and find the OTF files under fonts/otf
folder.
