General

Fetch game metadata automatically

Phoenix can automatically fill game metadata for you when you add a new game. You can enable/disable that behaviour here.

Get app icon automatically

Games for some platforms (such as native Mac games) can have their icons automatically imported. You can enable/disable that behaviour here.

Appearance

Accent color UI

Whether you want the UI components in Phoenix to match your computer's accent color.

Gradient UI

Whether you want the UI components to have a gradient or a solid color.

Show star rating

Whether you want to see your rating of the game in star format or as a floating point number in the game info.

Fade header into background

By default, the header image has a nice gradient effect that makes it seamlessly fade into the rest of the UI. If you don't like this, you can turn it off here.

Show screenshots

If you don't want to see screenshots below game descriptions, you can turn them off here.

Screenshot size

You can use this setting to make the screenshots below game descriptions larger/smaller.

Fade leading screenshots into background

You can use this setting to enable a fade effect for the left side of the screenshot list that matches the one on the right.

Hide icons in sidebar

Whether you want to see game icons in the game list.

List icon size

The size of the icons to be in the game list.

Show number of games in sidebar

Whether you want to see the number of games in each category in the game list.

Show add game button in sidebar

Whether you want the add game button to be at the bottom of the game list rather than in the toolbar.

Show animation of category picker (Requires macOS 14 or greater)

Whether you want the icon in the sorting method dropdown to animate when you change the sorting method.

Show text in category picker

Whether you want to display the name of the current sorting method in the dropdown.

Hidden Games

List of hidden games. Use a game's "Show game" button to put it back in the game list. You can also press the trash button to delete it permanently.

Platforms

List of platforms / stores that your games may be from, along with settings for automatically generating launcher commands.

Name

The name of the platform. Displayed in the sidebar when games are being sorted by platform.

Icon

The icon associated with the platform.

Game Type

The file extension for this platform's games. For example, native Mac apps have the app extension, while a Nintendo Switch game may have the nsp extension.

Game Directories

The directories that Phoenix should scan for games for this platform. For example, I might keep my Wii games in /Users/username/Documents/Gaming/ROMs/Wii.

Command Template

The format of a launcher command for this platform.

Emulator-Specific Platform Settings

To make working with emulators more convenient, we include some settings specific for platforms that use emulators to work.

Platform is an emulator

Indicates whether this platform uses emulator-specific settings.

Select Emulator

The emulator application. For example, I may emulate PSX games with DuckStation, so I would select DuckStation.app for this setting.

Custom Arguments

Custom arguments to add to the end of the command for games. For example, many emulators support the --fullscreen argument to launch game in fullscreen.
