Hello there! 👋
My name is Pedro Jiménez, and I am a Software Engineer with a profound passion for software development and entrepreneurship.
My career has been defined by a commitment to crafting robust backend systems, optimizing infrastructure, and driving innovative solutions.
Currently, I am a Senior Software Engineer at Jobbatical, a European startup transforming immigration and relocation into seamless processes. At Jobbatical, our mission is:
"Making moving to a new country as easy as booking a flight."
My work enables me to directly and positively impact people's lives, a mission I deeply resonate with.
I began my journey at the University of Córdoba, where I earned a bachelor's degree in Systems and Telecommunications Engineering. My thesis project was titled SISMO, an Arduino-based device designed to monitor and secure motorcycles, aimed at reducing theft in my region.
- Hardware: Arduino for device management.
- Communication: MQTT protocol for real-time data exchange.
- Backend: A robust server to register devices and track motorcycles in theft scenarios.
This project sparked my love for innovative problem-solving and cutting-edge technologies.
During my university years, I also developed a comprehensive ticketing, logistics, and vehicle management system for a regional transport company. This platform enabled:
- Ticket generation for users.
- Customer and employee records.
- Vehicle fleet tracking and insurance management.
My professional career began at Condorlabs, a Colombian company with U.S.-based clients.
As a Junior Developer, I worked on a healthcare e-learning platform using Node.js (backend) and React (frontend).
Notable achievements:
- Introduced Linux server deployments, replacing legacy Windows servers.
- Established CI/CD pipelines.
I advanced to Senior Engineer, leading the Research and Development (R&D) team. Key contributions:
- Deployed monitoring platforms like Prometheus, Grafana, and the TICK Stack.
- Enhanced platform scalability and stability with innovative solutions.
After three years at Condorlabs, I joined Globant and worked with high-profile clients, including National Geographic and Disney+.
- GDPR Compliance: Developed platforms for user preference management and data deletion.
- Scalability: Built scalable AWS solutions and integrated external services.
I later led API development for NatGeo's mobile apps (iOS and Android).
After Disney’s acquisition, I joined the Disney+ team, focusing on metadata systems and real-time data processing using Kafka.
I initially joined Jobbatical as part of the product development team, contributing to the creation and evolution of a seamless immigration and relocation platform.
Over time, I transitioned to a more specialized DevOps role, aligning with my passion for infrastructure and platform operations.
- Automating infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) using Terraform.
- Managing Kubernetes clusters and other GCP services.
- Administering multiple company databases.
- Ensuring platform reliability, security, and scalability.
- Managing third-party services critical for business operations.
