I'm pretty sure you don't need to map the rooms to their ids. ActiveRecord probably handles this the same:

Booking.where(:room => rooms)

Better yet, let ActiveRecord handle the whole thing:

has_many :bookings, through: :rooms

# rooms.collect_concat {|r| r.bookings.to_a}
end

def booked_guests
bookings.map{|b| b.user_id}.uniq
end
end

class Room < ActiveRecord::Base
#insert our associations here
belongs_to :hotel
has_many :bookings

end

class Booking < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :room
belongs_to :user
end

class User < ActiveRecord::Base
#insert our associations here
has_many :bookings

def booked_rooms
bookings.collect_concat {|b| b.room}
end

end
