This will help us keep track of outdated package versions.

I think we should be able to use a GitFetcher with a sparse_checkout of just pkg/*/ver.

Running the latest and greatest is cool, but what is the priority? compiling all packages with cproc or being on the bleeding edge?. Last I time I tried to compile with cproc (x86) (jan '26) I had some issues with git, due to the use of the volatile type specifier (don't have build logs, only notes). But I will get back into it quite soon. Now that cproc supports VLAs..

The motivation is mostly just to be able to see a nice overview with the current status, and what packages need security updates, not really to stay on the bleeding edge. It's also nice for the packages which we do want to stay pretty current, and to see those which packages we're on a very old version.

But yeah, it's fairly low priority but would be nice to have. I thought I'd open the issue in case someone wanted to work on it.

Yeah, there are some issues with volatile. I'd recommend using -D volatile= in your cflags for now when using cproc. It's not really correct, but I think in most cases, qbe won't do the types of optimzations that volatile aims to prevent, so it's probably good enough for the current status of #13.
