Audio Wave is a lightweight, real-time audio visualizer source for OBS Studio.
It listens to any audio source in your scene and draws a clean waveform or shape that reacts to the sound.
Perfect for:
- Music and chill streams
- “Just Chatting” overlays
- Podcasts and talk shows
- “Now Playing” or idle scenes
- Attach to any audio source in your scene (mic, desktop, music, game, etc.)
- Multiple shapes (line, circle, rectangle, hexagon, star, triangle, diamond)
- Multiple styles (line wave, bars, smooth line, filled wave)
- Custom color, size, amplitude, and curve power
- Optional mirror mode and shape density control

Extract the archive and place the plugin file(s) as follows:
Windows (Standard OBS):
- Put the
.dllfile into:
C:\Program Files\obs-studio\obs-plugins\64bit
Windows (Portable OBS):
- Put the
.dllfile into:
obs-studio-portable\obs-plugins\64bit
macOS:
- Right-click
OBS.app→ Show Package Contents - Copy the plugin into:
OBS.app/Contents/PlugIns
Linux / Flatpak:
- Use your system’s OBS plugin paths, e.g.:
/usr/lib/obs-pluginsor
~/.var/app/com.obsproject.Studio/config/obs-studio/plugins/

Restart OBS Studio.
After restart, you should see a new source type: “Audio Wave”.
- In OBS, click
+under Sources. - Select Audio Wave.
- Pick an Audio Source (e.g. Desktop Audio, Mic/Aux, Music).
- Adjust shape, style, color, amplitude, and curve to match your overlay.
- Resize and position it in your scene like any other source.
