- An **objective** is a goal to be achieved in the future. It gives a direction to the individual, team, department or whole company. Objectives are generally broad and defined in the way which is easy to remember.
- A **key result** is a concrete metric with **starting** value and **target** value that measures progress towards an objective. It is either percentage or other numerical metric. Such as time (latency, time to recover, etc), amount of money (revenue, committed pipeline, etc.) ...The key component is measurable success. Goal is to remove ambiguity from judging the progress as success can mean different things to different people.
