Journées d'Informatique Musicale 2021
This release is dedicated to an artistic contribution to the Journées d'Informatique Musicale, titled:
Interactive Experience of Spatial Sound Sculptures: “...between the leaves” and “à l'intérieur des cloches"
We propose an interactive experience of two physical sound installation studies ("between the leaves" and "à l'intérieur des cloches"), to be virtually visited and explored by JIM 21 participants through the Binauralix app, an auditory virtual environment with individual avatar control, loudspeaker and room binauralization. The virtual installations will be performed in three alternative formats, you can find an instructional video here:
- Telematic: Virtual installation for real-time binaural rendering
On July 8, 2021 from 19:00 to 20:00 CEST there will be a virtual installation via realtime broadcast of a multichannel audio stream (speaker feeds) through the SonoBus network audio streaming app, which needs to be installed on local/client computers. The multichannel audio stream can be received within the Binauralix app thanks to the SonoBus plugin support. Users need to load the "SonoBus Instrument" plugin and connect to the SonoBus group titled "JIM21". Chats will be open to participants for feedback and dialog with the artists.
- Interactive : Video + embedded (multichannel) audio file for local playback and binaural rendering
Video files with embedded multichannel audio can be downloaded to your local computer, for interactive binauralization. This will require the installation of a virtual audio cable, such as Soundflower, Blackhole, Jack. The required media files are available following this link.
- Fixed Media : Video + embedded (binaural) audio file for local playback
This format does not require the use of the Binauralix app: as part of a virtual concert performance of the JIM conference on July 8, 2021, 18.30 CEST, fixed media versions (audiovisual media with a binaural interpretation/rendering) will be streamed through the conference's youtube channel. In addition, the works are available for online viewing here:
All the above requires loading respective settings for Binauralix (for real-time binauralization of the installation works). The preset files are available here:
