Voice typing on Linux (or more precisely Xorg) by abusing Chrome/Chromium. A bad solution that actually works.

Indeed. It has been performing stable enough during my daily use that I haven't felt too much things to maintain for. For substantial improvement (i.e. faster typing), I would go with a local recognition engine (e.g. Kaldi), a very different way of interaction (I am considering a flight rudder), and overall a totally new technical solution. Should you find that this existing solution could use some improvements, you're more than welcome to contribute, to try it out on your own machine, or to register interest in any other way.
