MTV 2.8

Resolves https://issues.redhat.com/browse/MTV-1550 by linking to a better list of the operating systems that support MTV and by adding more information about the use of RHEL 8 vs. RHEL 9.

Preview: https://file.corp.redhat.com/rhoch/os_supporting_mtv/html-single/#source-vm-prerequisites_mtv [3rd bulleted item]

Hi Richard. Minor comments. Feel free to accept or ignore. :-) I looked at other sections that seem to vary their pre-req's, but this is how I'd update this one.

  • ISO/CDROM disks are unmounted.
  • Each NIC contains one IPv4 and/or one IPv6 address.
  • The VM’s operating system is certified and supported as a guest operating system for conversions.

Note: You can check that the operating system is supported by referring to the table in this article that discusses VM conversions. (I would make the link within some portion of the sentence. The article name, imo, is too long and confusing, and mentions RHEL 7, which is on maintenance support.)

There’s no bullet for this one: RHEL 8 is used with MTV 2.6.z and RHEL 9 is used with MTV 2.7.z. Does this bullet mean that MTV 2.6.z requires RHEL 8 and MTV 2.7.z requires RHEL 9? If so

  • VMs running MTV 2.6.z are running RHEL 8.
  • VMs that are running MTV 2.6.z are running RHEL 9.
  • No VM names contain a period (.).

Note: Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV) changes any period in a VM name to a dash (-).

  • No VM name duplicates any other VM name in the OpenShift Virtualization environment.

@nunzy1 I made many of the changes you suggested. Could you please review the PR again?
