Snap Points on Shapes

- If a shape has flat faces, a snap point goes at the center of each flat face.
Exception: The Beam does not have snap points on its front and back faces or on its ends. - For rounded shapes like the Sphere, Tube, and Elbow, it may help to imagine a bounding box around it (pictured above). Snap points go in the center of each face of the bounding box. The snap point affordance could wrap around the curves of these shapes, or remain flat as though on a plane. Exception: The Ring does not have snap points on the front and back faces of its bounding box (its opening has no snap points).
- Yellow snap points connect with any other yellow snap point, but not red snap points.
- Red snap points connect with any other red snap point, but not yellow snap points.
- Red snap points are only on the open ends of elbows and tubes. Other shapes should not snap to the ends of tubes or elbows, and tubes and elbows should not snap to the end of another tube or elbow in any orientation other than end-to-end.
- Some snap points may be turned off by default. The sphere, for example, may not be snappable by default, but snap points would appear in the positions indicated above if its snapping was turned on.
