This subreddit is 99% memes and "/r/thenetherlands" will contain all the relevant Reddit-posted news. It is also a mixed sub of Netherlands and Belgian news.

…nederland" because it is 99% memes and "/r/thenetherlands" contains all the relevant Reddit-posted news.

Should it be renamed to just Netherlands so people can more easilly find it?

I am not sure what you mean?

Do you mean renaming the feed category to "Netherlands" instead of "The Netherlands"? This issue is not about that. This is about removing one source because it is not a news source but mainly a meme page.

But re: your issue, what should be done is ignoring "The" in sorting. People expect "The Netherlands" as country name but sorted by "N". Just like in music apps where "The Police" is sorted by "P".

I know my comment is unrelated but wanted to ask a Dutch person this. Why is it 'The Netherlands" and not just 'Netherlands'? It is inconsistent. Wikipedia page is also just Netherlands https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Netherlands

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States it is the same for the USA. Probably just wikipedia formatting policy.
The simple reason is that our name varying on the language is either Netherlands (Nether Lands) or Low Countries, which is plural.
Oddly enough I think Dutch is one of the few languages where we refer to our country in the singular. Nederland (Nether Land), although the name of our kingdom is Koninkrijk der Nederlanden (Kingdom of the Netherlands). And if you want to be archaically formal one would say De Nederlanden.

Linguistics are odd :)

USA appears without 'the' in Kite, as does every other country. So if it is OK with you can you rename Netherlands appropriately as a part of this PR?
