Experiencing a similar problem - unable to see the time properly. Using Ubuntu 20.04. Is there a color setting which is incompatible with this extension?

Given the CSS hasn't changed, and it still explicitly defines a background colour - I would suggest that while it may be fixed for you, I don't think it is generally fixed.
