Why

OpenAI shipped GPT-6.1 Sol (gpt-6.1-sol). HumanLayer wants it as the new default Codex model.

What changed

  • models.json: new openai/gpt-6.1-sol entry. It has the same limits as GPT-6 Sol (1.05M context, 922k input, 128k output) and costs $2 input / $10 output / $0.10 cached input. Efforts run from low to max. The entry has no fast mode.
  • CODEX_CONTEXT_WINDOWS: gpt-6.1-sol → 258,400, the same as the other GPT-6 models. Compaction starts at 210,016.
  • openai-responses.ts: gpt-6.1-sol now accepts max effort.
  • command.ts: the CLI --thinking check now matches gpt-6 instead of gpt-6-, because the dotted ID gpt-6.1-sol didn't match the old pattern.
  • DEFAULT_MODELS.codex is now gpt-6.1-sol (was gpt-6-astra).
  • Tests: gpt-6.1-sol is added to the GPT-6 Sol cases (CLI effort, research routing, limits, pricing, compaction, max reasoning).

Release

After merge, tag v0.0.88 so synclayer can use it.

🤖 Generated with Claude Code

Add gpt-6.1-sol to the OpenAI catalog with its public limits and
pricing, the Codex context window, and max reasoning effort. Widen the
CLI effort check so dotted GPT-6 point releases match. Fast mode stays
off for this model.
