More Information

Homebridge Ajax SIA brings an Ajax Systems Hub 2 alarm into Apple Home as a HomeKit security system plus sensors (motion, contact, smoke, leak, CO, tamper, battery). Version 1.1.1 is the one to review; it is on npm with provenance, and every release has a GitHub release with notes.

  • By default it works locally: the hub reports its events to Homebridge over SIA DC-09 (TCP/UDP, optional AES), so no cloud account is needed.
  • An optional feature uses the Ajax mobile app's cloud protocol, which is not an official API. It is off unless the user enters their Ajax credentials in the plugin settings, the README recommends a dedicated account, and the plugin stops calling Ajax after failures that could lock the account. It adds: arming and disarming from HomeKit, the battery level, offline and malfunction state and temperature of the detectors, and discovery of detectors that are not in the configuration. Calls go through a queue, one at a time, and the traffic is a few small requests per hour.
  • The only file it writes (the Ajax session) is stored in the Homebridge storage directory, with mode 600.
  • No analytics or tracking. The plugin has no runtime dependencies and no install scripts.
  • The Homebridge UI settings are provided through config.schema.json.
  • Node.js 22, 24 and 26 are tested in CI.
  • Tested on a real Hub 2 (4G) with Homebridge 2.4.0 on a Raspberry Pi.
  • I searched the list of verified plugins and found no Ajax plugin. The only other Ajax Homebridge plugin I know of (homebridge-ajax-systems-uart) needs a uartBridge and has been unmaintained since 2022.
