PixelMek: The Game is now playable!
In this first playable alpha release you will be able to choose your mechs (or use the default setup) and play against a dumb, but not easy AI, on a very small map.
Playing the game
To get started playing, follow these steps:
- Download and run the release
.msi
installation file.- Windows may warn you about running the file, I can only give you my word it is safe if you download it here from GitHub. The source code is open and the installer software cx_Freeze (http://cx-freeze.sourceforge.net/) is also open source.
- Extract the game files where desired for installation.
- Run pixelmek.exe in the installed location (default is
C:\Program Files (x86)\pixelmek
). - Adjust any settings in the Settings menu (changing resolution will require game restart to take affect).
- From the Battle menu, you can go straight into combat by selecting "Enter Combat", or you can change around your units or the enemy units in their submenus before selecting to enter combat.
From there use your mouse to interact with the game. You can also use the following keyboard shortcuts:
WASD/Arrow Keys
- Move cell selectionSpace/Return
- Perform selected action on selected cellTab/T
- Cycle next closest target (press with Shift key to cycle previous)
Notes
- Evade and Sprint buttons currently do nothing
