This repository contains the code I used to create a database of metal bands around the world using web scraping on the [Spirit of Metal] site (https://www.spirit-of-metal.com/). The database that was generated is in the data folder. There are two files so far: metal_band_database_2022-03-27.csv is the original database created and metal_band_database_clean_2022-03-31.csv is a cleaned up version of the database (the same as the original version but stripped of some unnecessary rows containing html information left over from web scrapping). The main script used to create the database is create_band_database.R and it uses an additional custom function located in functions/collect_bands_info.R).
