How to: Use tip bot
Brought to you by the /r/Monero community.
That means all Monero is running on the testnet.
New to the tip bot? You've come to the right place! To get started, all you have to do is message the bot for your public address, and you can send Monero and be off tipping!
To tip somebody's post, reply directly to them with /u/MoneroTipsBot <amount> tXMR
, and the bot will take care of the rest! For example, commenting /u/MoneroTipsBot 0.25 tXMR. Thanks for the tutorial!!
will tip whoever you've just replied to 0.25 tXMR from your balance.
To check your balance and public address, PM /u/MoneroTipsBot with the subject as 'My info' (message box can be anything). The bot will reply displaying your public address and total balance, including incoming transactions.
Same as checking the balance, PM /u/MoneroTipsBot with the subject 'My info' (message box can be anything), and the bot will reply and let you know!
To withdraw any part of your balance, PM /u/MoneroTipsBot with the subject as Withdraw <amount> XMR
and the message as just your address. For example, messaging /u/MoneroTipsBot Withdraw 0.75 XMR
with the message content 44AFFq5kSiGBoZ4NMDwYtN18obc8AemS33DBLWs3H7otXft3XjrpDtQGv7SqSsaBYBb98uNbr2VBBEt7f2wfn3RVGQBEP3A
will withdraw 0.75 Monero to that address. Warning: withdrawals cannot be reversed once they are done!

Warning: If you share your private key with anyone, you may lose your funds.
If you're sure you understand what your private key can do, and how to use it, PM /u/MoneroTipsBot with the subject My private info
. The bot will reply displaying your public address, total balance, and your private key (mnemonic) which you can use to export funds/import into another wallet.
The bot will be using testnet Monero until version 14.1.0 comes out, because that's the version I need to make it go live with stability!
This depends on few factors, such as what country you're from and how much you've received. For large amounts, you can use any Exchange that supports Monero, or for smaller amounts, it may be easier to spend at Merchants & Services that accept Monero instead.
Monero works by sending your Monero to a destination, then all the return "change" back to yourself. This means if you only ever received Monero from 1 source, you can only make 1 transaction at a time. The easiest and quickest way to get around this is to tip yourself your entire balance, since the bot splices the change output.
Do not store more Monero on the tipping service than you can afford to lose. While the private key is given to you and you can withdraw at any time, there is no guarantee the platform cannot be hacked or a Reddit admin won't listen in on the seed being sent. The tipping service is designed for lightweight ecosystem involvements, not for buying a house or a new car.
Yes!! So don't store too much. While it is stored encrypted on the service, until someone can figure out how I can circumvent this I'll have access to your keys and funds. So don't store more than you're willing to lose, and back up your private key in case the service ever goes down!
Absolutely! The code is free to learn from, copy or redistribute and is available on Github here.
After a successful tip, you can take the tx key and input it to a Monero block explorer, such as MoneroBlocks. Since Monero is private, the amount and addresses are hidden, but you can still verify the transaction took place, and verify further details by exporting your private key and looking it up in a local wallet.
If you found a bug, either message me here or sent me an email at [email protected].
By participating in the tipping service you agree to not use it for illegal activities, break sitewide rules, or to otherwise harm or harass other users. You are responsible for ensuring the safety of your funds. The service may always go down, so the user is expected to back up their private seed as soon as they start using it. There is no guarantee of reimbursement in the event of loss of funds, either through you forgetting your password or through someone breaking into the server. The source code is published on Github here, so if you spot a potential security flaw please let me know ASAP either through a Reddit PM to /u/OsrsNeedsF2P, or an email to [email protected].
