Data left in _data should be consumed by Jekyll Liquid templates and build out people includes that can be used around the site.

Awesome, thank you. I’d like to suggest that we go with CSV unless there’s justification otherwise. Github will display it as data in a nice tabular form, which will help with the appearance of it as easy-to-understand data that comes from a spreadsheet.

Generally 👍 on CSV. Only question is around more complex datasets that might not be tabular? I.e. where we have an arbitrary number of sub-objects (like past speaking engagements). Haven't dealt a lot with CSV, so suggestions welcome.

Put them in Markdown or text? Sub-objects sounds like a job for a relational database, which is what we have in People DB.
