Nothing structural changed in the model formulation only the framework was moved from native R code to a C++ main routine. This has the advantage of a considerable speed up on smaller datasets while not losing performance on larger ones. This change was mainly implemented within the context of inverse modelling (location estimation based on light profiles) as used in the {skytrackr} package.
