- upload the file socket_test.php to you web root
- try to access http://www.youhostname.com/socket_test.php?host=targethostname.com&port=the_portnumber_for_testing eg. http://www.youhostname.com/socket_test.php?host=www.microsoft.com&port=80
- if "Successfully connected to" appears in the result message of step 2, it means the connection is ok
