dotignore
is a CLI tool for generating .gitignore files.

sudo mkdir -p /usr/local/dotignore && sudo tar -C /usr/local/dotignore -xzf dotignore-[version]-linux-x64.tar.gz

Create your .gitignore files with init
verb
dotignore init <template>
Also, init is a defeault verb and you can omit it
dotignore <template>
When you use init verb be careful, it creates a new or overwrite existing .gitignore file. If you want to just add new template to existing one, add --append
or -a
option.
dotignore dotnet --append
List your dotignore files with ls
verb
dotignore ls
Also, ls has -q
or --query
option for searching your template
dotignore ls -q <template>
