Made for the game ART SQOOL by Julian Glander
Shown at the Malt Baby exhibit held @ Babycastles April 5 - July 13, 2019
Controller made by Sonya Belakhlef (fabrication) and Lauren Gardner (electronics)
Sonya drew up the concept for the controller
Lauren used the Arcade Joystick & Buttons USB Interface Kit from Tinkersphere with some arcade buttons to make the guts.
Then Sonya built the controller around the guts!
You can use this controller on a computer or Raspberry Pi. Once you plug in the USB, your computer will reckognize it but you will need to remap the arcade buttons to new keys for the game. Like you can see in Sonya's drawing with the 'space' and directional arrows.
We used this controller on a PC and remapped the buttons using Joy2Key. A similar program for a mac is Joy Stick Mapper
This is how you can use Joy2Key to map the controller...
First find the button you want to remap. example.
Then, 'edit the button assignment' and choose what the key mapping will be. example.
